Sony Playstation 2 Compatability

If you had (or have still got) a PlayStation One, you will presumably have a collection of games to go with it. The PlayStation 2 is backwards compatible with virtually every PlayStation game available..
This is good news because you can simply pop a PlayStation game into your PlayStation 2 and it will run as it did on your PS One.
In some instances, you could even make improvements in the loading times and picture quality of the games by following these simple steps:
- Switch on your PlayStation 2 without a disc inserted, or with the disc cover open. This will take you to the consoles Main menu screen.
- Press the Triangle button on your controller to open up the Version Information menu.
- Highlight "PlayStation Driver" and press the Triangle button again - you'll be taken to the PlayStation Driver sub-menu.
- There will be two options to choose from - "Disc Speed" and "Texture Mapping". Both options should be set to "Standard" as default.
- Press the X button on either selection to switch from "Standard" to "Fast" on the disc speed, and "Smooth" for for Texture mapping.
- Once complete, press the Circle button twice to return to the Main menu screen and place the PlayStation game in the disc tray.
- Games are now ready to play.
When you change the disc speed and the Texture Mapping options, not only will this make use of the console's faster disc drive speed to decrease the loading times of your PlayStation games, but it will also use the console's extra processing power to smooth out the games' rougher graphical edges.
If you reset the console for any reason, these settings will remain the same.
Note: Switching your PlayStation 2 off or putting it into standby mode will reset the changes back to default.
